What Are the Treatment Options for Dry Eye?
Dry Eye isn’t a one-size-fits-all condition, which is why we offer a personalised approach to treatment. Based on the findings of your Dry Eye Assessment, your optometrist may recommend:
- Over-the-counter eye drops to relieve mild irritation
- Preservative-free lubricants for daily use
- Warm compresses and lid hygiene routines to unblock the eyelid glands
- In-practice lid treatments and massage to clear debris and oil build-up
- TearStim IPL Treatment for longer-lasting relief in more severe cases
What is TearStim?
TearStim is a non-invasive, light-based therapy used to treat Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) — one of the most common causes of chronic Dry Eye.
Using gentle pulses of Intense Regulated Pulsed Light (IRPL®), TearStim stimulates the glands in your eyelids to restart the natural production of oils needed to keep your tears stable. This helps reduce:
- Grittiness
- Soreness
- Fluctuating vision
- Watery eyes
- Burning sensations
What to Expect During TearStim Treatment
- Quick and comfortable: Each session takes just a few minutes per eye
- Non-invasive: No needles, no contact with the eyeball, and no downtime
- Proven results: Most patients notice a significant improvement after 3–4 sessions
The initial course of treatment includes three to four sessions over a 10-week period, with a top-up treatment recommended annually to maintain results.

How Much Does It Cost?
- £200 per treatment appointment
- Care Plan patients receive a 20% discount
- Once the initial treatment has been completed, patients are eligible to sign up to our Dry Eye Care Plan which available for £26.50/month and includes:
- 1 Dry Eye Assessment per year
- 1 TearStim treatment session per year
- All the usual benefits of our Care Plan
