Remember, these answers are meant to provide general guidance. For personalised advice or additional questions, please consult your optometrist.
It’s recommended to have an eye test every two years or as advised by your optometrist. Regular eye tests help detect vision changes and eye conditions early, ensuring timely treatment.
You can pay for your eye test upfront at the time of your appointment. Alternatively, consider our Care Plan, which covers regular eye examinations and offers various benefits. If you’re eligible, your eye test may also be covered by NHS entitlements.
You can pay for your glasses upfront at the time of purchase. If you’re a Care Plan patient, you enjoy a 20% discount on all glasses and sunglasses and we offer you interest-free monthly payment options for your glasses. Eligible patients can also use NHS Optical Vouchers to help cover the cost of their glasses.
With so many different styles of frames, to create different looks, we’d always recommend you having 2 pairs of glasses so at least you have a spare pair. Also, consider additional pairs for specific needs such as reading glasses, sunglasses, sports eyewear, etc. Multiple pairs ensure you’re prepared for various activities and events.
Opt for frames that complement your face shape. Round faces suit angular frames, while square faces pair well with rounded or oval frames. Your optical advisor can help you find the perfect fit but ultimately if you love the style that’s the one for you.
HM Revenue and Customs deem part of the full retail cost of a pair of spectacles to be a dispensing fee which is exempt of VAT and then part of the full retail cost to be directly related to the goods themselves. This makes the VAT treatment of glasses rather complicated!
In order to ensure that you are completely aware of all of the costs associated with your glasses we will provide you with a print out of a full breakdown of the costs of your glasses and the associated VAT which is included prior to you confirming your order.
As a new customer, I honestly wish I had never, ever used a different optician!
